From Schattwald to the Ponten

There are many good north-facing ski tours in the Tannheim Mountains. The tour on the Ponten is rightly the most frequented. Moderate slopes rise above the small Schattwald ski area and tower up to majestic-looking rocky mountains. Between Bschießer and Ponten, the pleasant Pontental valley stretches up to the Pontensattel. Here, a few days after the last snowfall, conditions are often similar to those on the slopes - without any lift at all and far above the groomed slopes at the Stuibenlift.
