This hike takes us from Bad Hindelang past the Café Polite through the Hirschbachtobel up to the Hirsch-Alpe. From there it goes via the Spieser, the Wertacher Hörnle and the Buchel-Alpe to Unterjoch.
Distance 13.3 km
Highest point1,682 m
Lowest point814 m
This is a tough hike. Over 1000 metres of altitude have to be conquered. In the course of the tour, which leads through the wild Hirschbachtobel, we climb the 1651 m high Spieser and the 1684 m high Wertacher Hörnle. This requires stamina. We are rewarded with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and the idyllically situated Hörnlesee.
There are three places to stop along the way, the Caf é Polite, the managed Hirschalpe and the managed Buchel-Alpe.
From Unterjoch, the bus takes us back to Bad Hindelang.

Car park at the Bad Hindelang guest information office (813 m)
Our hike starts at the large car park at the Gästeinformation in Bad Hindelang. From there we walk into the centre of the village (church and town hall) and follow the Marktstrasse eastwards, which shortly afterwards turns into the Jochstrasse. After about 600 m, Schindackerweg branches off to the left in the direction of Café Polite. The path first bends to the left and then leads us in a northerly direction uphill through the fields.
At a large fork in the road, we turn right towards Hirschbachtobel. Only a few hundred metres further on is the Café Polite on the right. Not far behind the café, the Hirschbachtobel with its beautiful waterfalls begins. We now follow the hiking trail through the Hirschbachtobel, leaving out the branch towards Kellerwand. Then we climb up the crater wall via hairpin bends. At the top we can enjoy a wonderful view over Bad Oberdorf, Bad Hindelang and the surrounding area. Then we climb a steep ascent up to the Hirsch-Alpe, which is open for service, hike in a curve over the Kreuzbichel and after another steep stretch we reach the 1651 m high summit of the Spieser. The beautiful view of the surrounding mountain scenery allows us to linger for a moment. Afterwards, the trail descends steeply for a short time before we set out on wonderful nature trails on the hike up to the Wertacher Hörnle, whose peak is at 1684 m. From there, we can hike back up to the summit. From there we can look down on the Hörnlesee. Here at Wertacher Hörnle we have reached the highest point of our hike and enjoy a magnificent view of the nature reserve „Allgäuer Hochalpen“ all the way to the „King of the Allgäuer Alpen“, the 2593 m high Hochvogel. Now the trail goes steadily downhill to the Buchel-Alpe, where we can recover from the strenuous ascent. Then we continue our way towards Unterjoch. Either via the meadow path (be careful when it is wet!) or via the road we reach the B310. There is a bus stop right there. However, it is still recommended to visit Unterjoch and end the day there with a stop for refreshments. The bus stop is at the northern entrance to the village.
