From Alpe Kammeregg to the Grünten
It is not for nothing that the Grünten is called the „Wächter of the Allgäus“ – it welcomes holidaymakers coming from the north and is thus the first Allgäu Alps peak to come into view. The summit of the Grünten rewards us with a magnificent panoramic view of the peaks of the surrounding Allgäu Alps for the efforts of the ascent. We look down on the Illertal, Hörnergruppe and Nagelfluhkette, and on a clear day we can even see the Zugspitze and Switzerland. On the summit is a monument erected in 1924 to fallen mountain men. Just 100 m below, a transmission mast for Bavarian radio was built in 1951 on a neighbouring peak. The view from the top of the mountain is even spectacular.
