Hikes in Bad Hindelang

The village of Bad Hindelang in the Ostrachtal is a climatic health resort and a recognised Heil-Kneipp spa. More than 80% of the municipal area is a landscape and nature conservation area. The village is surrounded by five smaller villages, which are excursion destinations or starting points for hikes. Here you can enjoy farm holidays and skiing in Oberjoch in the winter.

There are also many metres of hiking trails leading from the other parts of the village through the beautiful nature:

What is the name of Bad Hindelang's local mountain?

Around Bad Hindelang, numerous mountain peaks invite you to take long hikes. One of the local mountains is of course the Iseler, which rises to an impressive height of 1,875 metres. But the Imberger Horn (1,655) or the Hirschberg (1,644) are also among the local mountains of Bad Hindelang.

The Hintersteiner Panorama Trail is a pleasant loop. The trail leads to the idyllically situated mountain village on the slope of the Stuibenkopf. From there you have a wonderful panoramic view of the high Alps and the Ostrachtal valley.

The Jägersteig circuit, which leads from the Hinterstein/Säge car park up into the Retterschwang valley, is also very popular. This round tour is one of the hiking trails that are recommended in summer, as it goes through shady forest and along the river. It takes around 2 hours and is just under 6 kilometres long.

Take advantage of the extensive network of trails of the Allgäu hiking trilogy and enjoy the charms of the Alps on the „Königsetappe“ from Bad Hindelang to Oberstdorf (or the other way round). On the circular tour you pass through the former hunting grounds of Prince Regent Luitpold. The landscape between Hinterstein, Schwarzenberghütte and Edmund Probst Haus is truly majestic. Lush alpine meadows spread out between the rugged peaks and you pass three fresh mountain lakes, Engeratsgundsee, Koblatsee and Laufbichlsee.

The hike is of medium difficulty.

The trail from the top station of the Hornbahn cable car around the Imberger Horn and the Straußberg to the Mitterhaus is a moderately difficult hike. The route takes you along natural paths as well as well-maintained gravel paths. It is therefore also suitable for beginners and children. In total, the trail is 10 km long and takes a good three hours with 650 metres of descent.

Dann findet ihr rund um Bad Hindelang tolle Kombinationen: Der wohl berühmteste Klettersteig der Alpen ist der Hindelanger Klettersteig. Er erfordert Trittsicherheit und eine entsprechende Ausrüstung. Schwierig ist er an sich nicht, aber von der Länge her anspruchsvoll. Zu empfehlen ist auch der Salewa Klettersteig. Er führt von Oberjoch in eine luftige Höhe am Iseler Gipfel (1.876 m) und sollte nur von geübten Bergwanderern mit Trittsicher- und Schwindelfreiheit sowie guter Kondition begangen werden.

Eine Herausforderung ist außerdem die mit dem Tiroler Bergwege-Gütesiegel ausgezeichnete Wandertour Schattwald-Zöblen-Runde. Sie führt auf 3 Gipfel und startet an der Talstation der Wannenjochbahn. Freut euch auf eine der abwechslungsreichsten Wanderwege mit tollen Aussichten!
