Open the Route Planner140 kilometres of cross-country ski trails criss-cross the wintry landscape between Jungholz, Tannheim, Schattwald, Zöblen, Grän and Nesselw– and that is quite a lot, once you take into account that the Tannheimer Tal is only about 16 km long in its entirety.
The Tannheimer Tal has already been awarded the distinction of "Cross-country skiing guild of the Tyrol" for its well-prepared trails, and the German Ski Association has also given it top marks. And rightly so, because the trails are equally suitable for skaters and classic skiers, for beginners, advanced skiers and sporty professionals.

The most beautiful cross-country ski trails in the Tannheim Valley
The latter wait impatiently every year for the last weekend in January, because that is when the SKI-TRAIL Tannheimer Tal – Bad Hindelang takes place. This is one of the largest cross-country skiing events in Germany and Austria with around 1500 runners. The participants traditionally start in Tannheim and then run via Zölden to Oberjoch across the German border. In addition to the marathon distances of 13 and 33 km (classic style) and 36 and 60 km (skating), there will also be a 19 km skating race. There will also be an attractive supporting programme: free training sessions will be offered off the race course, as well as courses in Nordic fitness and much more. Of course, the course is also open outside the race period.
A great circular trail through the Tannheimer Tal and the neighbouring Allgäu.
A particularly popular loop leads from Tannheim to Vilsalpsee. In the heart of the Tannheim Valley, cross-country skiers experience an intact landscape and particularly beautiful mountain views in the Vilsalpsee nature reserve.
Somewhat more challenging is the round trail Gaichtpass, which runs directly üover the frozen Haldensee in cold winters. A special stop along the route is the "Lenzerhof" in Grön, where you can enjoy genuine Tyrolean delicacies on the sunny terrace after the trail tour.
